I spent the pandemic weekends on side projects, and learned a few things along the way.

@diru1100 yep, I've been able to persuade a few groups to move. But indeed it's hard.

Installed Signal and moved a bunch of my groups there. It's really good!

Now that I'm back in Dublin and have my personal laptop, I'm planning on writing a blog post about things I learned building stuff last year.

@diru1100 I deleted Instagram, removed all social media apps except WhatsApp.

The web apps are mostly shit, so it's easy to not use them. Nowadays I don't even look at WhatsApp much.

Since uninstalling social media apps, I've basically stopped using them entirely. No Instagram clicks, no statuses or stories, nothing. Pretty cool!

>A lot of time has passed since then, and Iโ€™ve graduated from writing small hello world programs to working on bigger projects and making computers solve weird problems.

Having a blog is kinda helpful for your personal "brand". I've had people contact me talking about years old blog posts and it's pretty nice to know that something I've written is being read by people.

Apparently an American who doesn't know Scottish is responsible for writing a significant part of Scottish Wikipedia, with hilarious results reddit.com/r/Scotland/comments

And Rocksteady is making another DC game! Today's a good day. Wish it was a Superman game though. :(
